Fight on John Dalton St; Other Nightlife Info

A few nights out this week. Visited Voodoo at Birdcage on Wednesday with Cool Bars. Ridiculously cheap vodka deals. Too many guys. Club’s card machine not working. Visited Funky Chicken takeway outside the Printworks after this, where they left the can out of my meal deal. Hmm. Let’s not do that night again.

Friday night: visited Tattu, Chinese restaurant in Spinningfields. Beautiful venue and food. Great duck egg fried rice and chicken dish. Delicious cocktails too. Missed the January deals but never mind- still worth it.

After this I ended up in Orderly Conduct in Ark again… I don’t know why I do it to myself to be honest. Same problems: too many arrogant students. 

Got home to Oldham with Street Cars on 0161 228 7878. Cartax seem to have put their prices up but these seem much better value.

Saturday: dropped into Cloud 23, the sky bar inside Beetham Tower on Deansgate. Great views of the city on all sides- a continually changing backdrop with the construction projects under way in Manchester- all to a refined deep house soundtrack.

We took a left turn in more ways than one after this, to heaving bars Shack (great RnB)...

 

...and Cane and Grain (heaving and boiling). We ended in Lost in Tokyo, a Japanese-themed bar with good old-school hip hop. A friend of mine found an empty wallet there, indicating a possible pickpocket roaming the bar. It’s a busy spot so would be susceptible to this.

I had a wander around the city after this, past the Printworks and onto Deansgate. At the junction of John Dalton Street, clubs Panacea and Suburbia were closing.

I was trying to get as close as I could without making myself obvious to people- not an easy feat when you’re wearing a silver suit jacket. It’s no longer just the rough bars that you can see fights outside- even the most ‘upmarket’ places have their scallies in. They just dress better out of necessity.
