Parea Blogger Dinner

Wednesday 29th saw a great blogger dinner hosted by Parea, the Alderly Edge pan-Asian restaurant owned in part by Chantelle Heskey (World cup footballer Emile's wife).

A group of about 8 bloggers met in Parea, which is decked out in foliage-themed wallpaper with plenty of mirrors adorning the walls, keeping the venue brightly lit. We were soon seated while oriental-inspired trip-hop flowed quietly out of the wall speakers, and were served a series of succulent small dim sum plates including prawn hargau, pork dumplings, spicy peas in pods (mange tout with an appealing kick), Korean steak, salmon teriaki (referred to as 'saki'), bowls of sesame rice, plain and salt-and-pepper chips, lamb rendang (a far-eastern tagine-style dish, and a favourite), tempura veg (deep fried courgettes and other greens, known as Japanese but actually inspired by 16th-century Portuguese cuisine).

We had the choice of using knives and forks, but I surprised myself with my handling of chopsticks. (If you ever wondered why Chinese rice seems stickier than Italian or Indian, it's so it can be eaten with these. Gets challenging when you're down to the last few grains though!)

Another great event organised by Go PR and Events.
