The Zoo
Rude Jokes Book
I
got this second-hand for 20p in a local butty shop. It was a ripoff
at that. Stick with Sickipedia.
And the
Hippos Were Boiled in their Tanks
In 1945
Beat authors William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac joined forces to
create this manic, drug-fueled partly-true tale of junkies drifting
for bar to party to various people's homes, cruising toward a
terrible crime. The dual narration works really well and the two
writers have one inseparable, compelling voice that propels you
through to the end of the book- where the afterword describes the
dubious origin of the book's very random title. Well worth a read if
you like your lit fast and weird.
Also
this week I picked up my membership for The Milton Club.
Will
check it out soon.
