White Collar Fighter 137

A good friend of mine Nick Georgiou signed up to White Collar Fighter. Describing itself as ‘The Ultimate Boxing Experience,’ the promotion ‘takes beginners who have never boxed before and trains them for the experience of a lifetime.’ First-time fighters sign up, pay for their equipment and training sessions, and over 8 weeks, are trained to box. At the end of the training, the White Collar Fighter event takes place and each fighter is matched to another for 3 rounds of pugilism.

Last Sunday, Nick’s fight – one of a card full at White Collar Fighter 137 – took place in Bowlers in Trafford. Nick managed to upgrade us to a table with a good view of the ring, where we could watch him deliver a quick TKO.

A lot of the fights were stopped quickly, a testament to the good judgement and safety-consciousness of the organisers. Regardless of the short experience in boxing each competitor had, all of them had bags of heart and guts to get in the ring. Respect to all of them. WCF offered the audience a great opportunity to watch some explosive fights in a welcoming atmosphere, and a chance to dust off the tuxedo too.
