On the blog: a review of the Comic Con Fit project that I grafted over for 6 weeks, and a write-up of the actual Comic Con in Yorkshire that I got fit for. Then I’m going to attempt the fitness project again.
Also, expect a piece on potential movie sequels.
On Friday, Meetup group Manchester Nightlife are heading to Cutting Room Square in Ancoats for a few cocktails. Get involved! Meet new people, try some hipster bars or possibly craft ales if that’s your thing. Counter House, 9pm.
Saturday night: my mate DJ Bini takes over the decks at Ashton’s Chute Bar for a night of house music. She’s there the Friday too.
Later on in the night, 3am to be precise, the UFC 303 main card begins, with Light Heavyweight champ Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira taking on Jiri ‘BJP’ Prochazka and Irish fighter Ian Machado ‘The Future’ Garry facing Englishman Michael ‘Venom’ Page. (Page is born in London, don’t be fooled by the 3 foreign flags he has on his Insta.): With UFC veterans Brian Ortega and Anthony Smith also on the card, we can expect an explosive evening. Will Genting Casino be showing it? It’s hit and miss, unfortunately. They might. I don’t know anywhere else that does.
While writing this blog I’ve made a snap decision: Meetup group Manc Mates needed an organiser otherwise it would have folded in less than a month. I’ve stepped up. As a paying Meetup organiser I can take over it at no extra cost to me. The group has 257 members and is a little broader than just nightlife, with other activities on offer like restaurant meets. I’m going to suggest, in this group, we go more eclectic still. I’ve always wanted to try the indoor baseball batting at BaseBarMCR, for example. There’s also the Comic Con at the end of July that other people might want to visit. I know I will.
The next few weekends will be packed with Meetups, conventions and UFC shows (304 is in Manchester and is the same weekend as the Comic Con, and my birthday as it happens). Be part of it!
